Abstract (EN)

Gender-based discrimination subjugates women to multi-dimensional inequalities and impositions. Feminist politics plays an active role on human rights and gender, government's policy making and feasibility of those policies. On the sense of democracy, solidarity, gender and advocacy on human rights, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) act as a catalyst for women to get empowered and challenge the boundaries they are expected to abide by. In the digitalized world, media and the web are excellent means for NGOs whose main aim is to reach wider spheres of influence. Events organized and sponsored by associations are the reflections of their missions and visions. Some activities of associations can have the quality to reinforce gender roles. In this study, Facebook posts shared between March 2019 -March 2020 by thirty-three rights and advocacy associations with high visibility on social media, operating in Izmir, have been analyzed in the light of gender equality.
