Investigation of tectonic elements and crust structure of Izmir and its northern part

Candarli, Dikili, Aliaga, Foca etc. settlements / industrial areas which located within the western Anatolian extentional tectonic system and placed in boundaries of Izmir province, have some geothermal fields and interacted with many E-W / N-S directional tectonic formation. The region has a relatively thin crustal structure troughout the Anatolian plate, crustal and interior crustal deformations constitute the complex character of this area. There are some tectonic elements which are observed as outcrop in the region and there are more any areas that these findings can not be observed too. In this study, it was aimed to determining the areas which don't have any tectonically surface findings where can show geophysical findings, creating the crustal model of the area, determining the extensions of the tectonic elements, and creating basic data sets for engineering purpose for the planning the industrial settlements such as Aliaga for the future by evaluating the findings in the ground bedrock concept. Microgravity and Microtremor (Linear Array) methods were applied for to collect this data set. Tectonic and geological element boundaries and their extents have been determined by applying, horizontal derivatives, tilt angle and analytical signal methods on gravity data. Microtremor data were evaluated by horizontal vertical spectral ratios method. Under the lights of gravity anomaly maps, S-wave velocity and depth information, which obtained from inversion of HVSR curves, were used to create 2 dimensional residual crustal S-wave velocity models.
