Abstract (EN)

Miniature works can be used as visual sources that help us gain insights about history. Miniature works which were designed for some manuscripts in previous periods are able to present a visual statement about the relevant topic. Miniatures, within the centure we are in now, may guide us to certain extents when we need to carry out a retrospective research. The main framework of the research thesis is formed on this approach. The Levanters who existed for a period in İzmir culture, some of whom still continue their existence today left an influence socially on the society. Moreover, they have had the same influence with the architectures through their town identity. Among most of the extant architectures , there are some available ones that are still used actively. The architectures continue to be a be a part of the vital culture although their functions and usage have changed. The Levanters are situated in different parts of İzmir such as Buca, Bornova, Karşıyaka. As there is a large dispersion and lots of architectures, this study is dealt with settelements in Bornova district. It is limited with a narrower research and application by taking up seven Levanter architectures specific to Bornova. The main approach of our design is thought to be handled with the miniature craft for architectures and documentation methods. In this context, designs are fulfilled by using one murakka (paper) for each application of the architectures that is carried out.
