Abstract (EN)
SUMMARY IPOG - 92 NEUROBLASTOMA TREATMENT RESULTS A multicentric study was designed in order to reach enough number of NBL patients, which are relatively rare, agressive and which can not be obtained satisfactory survival rates, and IPOG-92 protocol was established. In this study 1992-1997 results of IPOG-92 were given. Patients and Methods: 36 patients (Median age 36 months) followed at four Oncology Center in izmir between May 1992 - December 1997 were taken in this study. Median follow-up was 14 months (SD: 18.454) IPOG-92 NBL protocol, modified from GPO-NB-90 protocol was given to patients; in stage 1 patients solely surgery, in stage 2 patients surgery and chemotherapy (CDDP, VCR, Ifosfamide), in stage 3 and stage 4 patients surgery chemotherapy (CDDP, VCR, Ifosfamide, Epirubicin, CYC) plus radiotherapy. In patients, CR obtained, a maintenance chemotherapy was given (CYC, VCR, VP-16, L-PAM) for one year. The therapy was surgery in stage 4SA patients and surgery plus low duration chemotherapy (Epirubicin, VCR) in stage 4SB and 4SC patients. Results: There were 3 patients (8.3%) in stage 1 and stage 2, 31 patients (86.2%) in stage 3 and stage 4. Primary tumor region was adrenales in 29 patients (80.5%), thorax in 6 patients (16.7%) and pelvis in 1 patient (2.8%). Complete remission (CR) rates were 100% for stage 1 and 2, 66.7% for stage 3, 20% for stage 4. The incidence of relapses was 16.6%. Median follow up for early stage patients was 53 months and all patients in these stages are alive. The overall three-year survival (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) were 58.06% and 48.39% respectively. The OS and EFS at three-year for all patients were 61.76% and 52.94% respectively. Conclusion: This is the first multicentric study in this field in Turkey. The CR and OS, EFS rates are satisfactory. It was concluded that more reliable results can be obtained by accumulating more patients and with longer follow-up period. 60
