Effects of electromyostimulation applications on isokinetic training and recovery

Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of recovery protocols with electromyostimulation that are applied after isokinetic training with electromyostimulation on recovery variables such as muscle damage markers, delayed onset muscle soreness and heart rate variability. Method: Age, height, body weight, body mass index, heart rate variability, and isokinetic strength measurements were made of 17 volunteers participating in the study. Polar H7 heart rate sensor was used for heart rate variability measurements and Cybex Humac Norm Isokinetic Test and Exercise System was used for isokinetic measurements. They were divided into 2 groups as recovered with electro stimulation and recovered passively. To evaluate the recovery parameters of volunteers; Heart rate variability, muscle damage parameters in blood were measured. Pain were measured with an algometer. BORG scales were used to determine fatigue and pain values after isokinetic training. The analysis of the data was calculated using the SPSS 24 package program. Results: In the analysis of the data, the recovery data of both groups were found to be similar. Although CK and MB values showed a significant increase (p <0.001), no significant difference was found when compared in both recovery groups. Heart rate variability did not differ in both isokinetic training and recovery groups. Conclusion: In the study, after isokinetic training with EMS, there was no significant difference between EMS recovery or passive recovery groups (p<0.005) Key words: electromyostimulation, recovery, creatine kinase
