An experimental design research on the importance of interior textiles in view of Jack Lenor Larsen

Humans determine spaces that have boundries for life's basic needs like feeling safe and sheltering from past to the present. Spaces with boundaries are based on sheltering different on the purpose of people's creating his own personal place with the effect of cultural, social, economic environment that evolves in time. Now the space has become a "Private Space" of people who determine the social status of many people, reflect their search for identity and try to keep pace with the trend of fashion in the age or reveal their identity. It has become important for people to identify themselves with the spaces they live in and to conceptualize these spaces physically and sensually. When we look at our private use areas, especially at the interior, with every culture's areating languages being different, needs and requests of people who has same culture can be different. Individual preferences and personal place perceptions conducts people with the anxiety of finding the correct organization. Together with textiles and their functional properties and being one of the elements of completing interiors as an aesthetic element, it's benefited from textile surface to add sensorial quality and to create opposition. Textiles, color and pattern based on a very wide range of textiles in the interior design has brought a memorable position. While this situation puts forward textiles in terms of personal custom design, designer is supposed to have some properties like good observing ability, sensitivity to the environment and the developments in the world. In line with these expectations, It is remarkable that Jack Lenor Larsen's work on interior textiles has been done who is one of the designers influenced by design school Bauhaus in which is taken important steps in the field of design. Larsen, with his work on interior textiles in the 1950s, caught the perfect harmony of interior architecture and textile of his age. He is an avant-garde designer with his works. Without splitting from tradition, methods which he developed with technological possibilities inspire many designers today. His designs, that hold human psychology the front, separate Larsen from many designers. By making designs that push the limits and by solving problems that he faced, Larsen significantly contributes to the textile field. In this work, at the light of Larsen's designs who is textile designer, emphasizing the integrity at place, some implementation has been made for indoor textile by analyzing the importance of indoor textile.
