Abstract (EN)

Art has existed in every period of the world's history and it has been shaped by beliefs, cultural elements and intellectual differentiations. The Far East has traditionalized its artistic creativity in the context of philosophies which have composed their culture. It is estimated that Japan has built up its cultural and artistic concerns with the effects of one of the archaic civilization China and assimilated in time. The Sumi-e Art, which is one of the traditional way of expression in East Art (especially China), has created a different fashion under the influence of Zen Buddhism thought system in Japanese Art. The Sumi-e Art has been researched in the aspects of its historic development, used materials anf firs period artists and then its connection with the philosophical thought system of Zen Buddhism has been scrutinized. The reflection of Zen Buddhism discipline has shown that ordinary life and arts have been interwoven in Japanese. With the influence of Zen Buddhism, in sumi-e art the minimalist approaches has been seen and it has been determined that it is in another different formation with Minimalism known as an art movement in West Art in 1960s. By examining the minimalism movement in West Art formation and the minimalist approaches in sumi-e art, their interaction hasb been presented in the study. The study is held with the techniques of literature search and source research. It is aimed that the study provides reliable references for sumi-e art which has limited sources and contributions to the field.
