The concept of the guilt in karl Jaspers

This dissertation aims to make a critical approach to the concept of the guilt of the famous German philosopher Karl Jaspers. The concept of guilt that we believe has a meaning in a certain judicial system. Can the guilt approach described by Jaspers in the distinction of "moral and metaphysical guilt" be considered as a harmful approach? This dissertation aims to answer this question. In the first chapter, his terms of "being", "human" and "existence" are explained with the Jaspers philosophy as a whole. In the second chapter, the concept of guilt is emphasized in the relationship of Jaspers with "existence", "freedom" and "communication". In the third chapter, Jaspers' distinctions about the concept of guilt are evaluated and based on these distinctions, the moral and metaphysical guilt and what Jaspers means are explained. In the conclusion of the dissertation, it is emphasized that the moral and metaphysical guilt understanding of Jaspers can have negative effects on the perception of guilt in the field of law.
