Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the job satisfaction of medical secretaries working as healthcare professionals at Erzurum City Hospital in relation to demographic variables and occupational factors, and to identify the effects of these factors on job satisfaction. The study population consisted of medical secretaries (N=296) employed at Erzurum City Hospital. A total of 290 medical secretaries were reached for the study. Participants completed a sociodemographic data form and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. The level of statistical significance was set at p<0.05. The participants' average age was 35.9 ± 8.5 years, and 48.3% were women. It was found that 55.2% of the participants perceived their job satisfaction as "Moderate," 33.1% as "High," and 71.4% experienced work-related stress. The participants' "Internal Satisfaction" dimension score was 3.3±0.8, the "External Satisfaction" dimension score was 2.8±0.9, and the "Overall Job Satisfaction" score was 3.1±0.8. The internal satisfaction score was found to be significantly higher among men compared to women (p=0.025). Overall job satisfaction was significantly and positively predicted by satisfaction with the work environment, while work-related stress was significantly and negatively predictive of it (p<0.001). The study revealed that job satisfaction among medical secretaries is influenced by socio-demographic factors, and that work-related stress and satisfaction with the working environment are predictors of job satisfaction. It can be concluded that medical secretaries with high job satisfaction will be more motivated in their work, establish stronger communication with patients and healthcare staff, and that this will contribute more positively to the service delivery process.
