Abstract (EN)
In this thesis investigations dealing with Jominy End Test Apparatus and its usage were performed. The Common Jominy Test apparatus was detected to find their negative ways. By evaluating them, a more usable one's design was made. The aim of this thesis is to prove the calculation of hardenability of a steel in materials selection causes material, time and labor saving. In order to gain this aim, a proper test apparatus had been used and examples have been given to show the usage of results. In the first part of investigation, factors affecting the hardenability of steels were observed. In the second part, the common jominy test apparatus was detected and had ways were determined. The apparatus designed and mnufactured was identified in this section. Usage of it obeys the TS 1381. In the third section determination of hardenability and steel selection by the aim of jominy curves were mentioned. In the fourth section, quenching of some machine manufacturing steels were performed by means of this apparatus. HRC values obtained by the end of this experiments between graphs and Jominy bands were obtained and good results were observed.
