vROUTING PROTOCOL AND CONGESTION CONTROL IN WIRELESSNETWORKS(M.Sc. Thesis)Mehmet ŞİMŞEKGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYDecember 2006ABSTRACTIn this thesis, a congestion prevention protocol has been developed for mobilewireless networks. Congestion is the most important problem in computernetworks. The proposed protocol has worked with on-demand method andactivated when it senses that a congestion will occur. Network Simulator 2.29 (ns-2)has been used as simulation tool. The developed protocol has been coded with C++programming language and compared with simulation results of AODV (Ad HocOn Demand Distance Vector) routing protocol. The operation of the mobilewireless network has been investigated under different overheads and obtainedresults have been evaluated. Experimental results show that the developed protocolis more successful for congestion prevention.Science Code : 902.1.063Key Words : Congestion, Routing, Protocols, Wireless NetworksPage Number : 69Adviser : Assoc.Prof.Dr. M.
