Research, analysis and criticising methods are used.Kabuli was a poet who lived in the 16th century. His real name was İbrahim. He was born and raised in Gediz in Kütahya. He took his first education in this place and later he went to İstanbul. There he was educated in madrasah. After that he became a qadi. He went to many places like Sivas, Kars, Mısır and mostly to the eastern regions of Anatolia to perform his job. Kabuli raised relations with the most powerful statesmen of his era like Sultan Murat III, Özdemiroğlu Osman Pasha and Ferhad Pasha and sometimes he presented poems to them. Kabuli died in 1591/1592 by getting drowned in the sea while he was returning in a ship from Egypt which was his last place of service. Kabuli was known as a an addicted person to indulgence and pleasure. He was a Sunni Muslim adherent to Hanafi madhhab. Only known work of Kabuli is his Divan. There are four manuscript copies of this divan. Those are in İzmir, İstanbul, Berlin and London. There are 933 poems in this divan. Among these 516 poems are ghazals. Furthermore there are many poems of Kabuli in poetry anthologies. This indicates that his poems were appreciated in his time. Kabuli?s Divan is a significant work in which there are social and historical elements, many expressions like ?yumuş, bıldır? from the culture and language of the folk, many archaic words especially idioms, and artistic expressions particularly by using the art of ?cinas?.
