Religious and sufi analysis of Kâdirî Muhyiddîn's poetry Nasîhat-nâme

Analytical studies in the field of Ottoman literature offer valuable insights into the poets of the era, facilitating a deeper understanding of their emotional and imaginative realms. Within this framework, Divan literature occupies a distinctive and prominent place in the history of Turkish literature. Over more than six centuries, it nurtured numerous influential poets and served as a fertile ground for the production of refined literary works that reflect the intellectual and aesthetic sensibilities of their time. One such poet is Kâdirî Muhyiddîn. Although the precise dates of his lifespan remain uncertain, it is confirmed that he was active between 1626 and 1630, based on the composition date of his poetic work Nasîhat-nâme. Therefore, it can be inferred that he lived during a period closely following the classical peak of Divan literature. This study analyzes Nasîhat-nâme, a didactic poem written by Kâdirî Muhyiddîn, from both religious and Sufi perspectives. The thesis is organized into three chapters: the first outlines the purpose and scope of the study; the second presents an analysis of the religious elements within the text; and the third explores the Sufi concepts embedded in the manuscript. The spiritual and mystical terms employed by the poet have been identified and systematically examined under thematic categories. The frequent use of advisory and moralistic expressions is particularly noteworthy, as they constitute the core message of the text. This research aims to reveal the conceptual richness of Nasîhat-nâme through its religious and Sufi dimensions.
