Abstract (EN)
Pregnancy and childbirth are one of the important situations that affect a woman's life. Women experience biological, physiological and psychosocial changes throughout pregnancy. Birth; Although it is a natural and physiological event, it is an important source of stress in women's lives. Normal birth is an event in which no external intervention is performed, directed by the instincts of the woman and actively involved (2). Cesarean section is defined as the delivery of the fetus by abdominal incision and then incision in the uterine wall (97). High cesarean rates seen in the world and in our country have become a universal problem. The study, which was carried out with the aim of contributing to the literature in this field and what needs to be done to reduce high cesarean rates, is a descriptive study. The population of the research consisted of physicians, nurses and midwives from the health personnel working in the obstetrics clinics of Başkent University Ankara Hospital and Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Gynecology Training and Research Hospital. No sampling method was used, and all health personnel (125 people) who volunteered to participate were included in the study. The data of the study were collected using the Introductory Information Form and the Inquiry Form of Birth Preferences and Reasons, which were created by the researcher by scanning the literature. SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics) 27 packages were used to analyze the data. Frequency tables and descriptive statistics were used to interpret the findings."Pearson-χ2" crosstabs were used to examine the relationships between two qualitative variables. It was determined that the mean age of the participants in the study was 27.42±5.19 (years) and 45,6% of them were in the 25-29 age group. The rate of preference for vaginal birth by physicians, nurses and midwives working in obstetrics clinics is 16,2% for physicians, 52,7% for nurses and 31,1% for midwives. Preference rates for cesarean section are 47,1% for physicians, 39,2% for nurses and 13,7% for midwives. It was determined that physicians mostly preferred cesarean section, while nurses and midwives mostly preferred vaginal delivery (χ2=14.925; p<0.001). It was determined that those who preferred vaginal delivery were preferred because of 57,6% less complications, v and 80,8% of those who preferred cesarean section were preferred because of the long-term negative effects of vaginal delivery. It was determined that 97,3% of the participants in the study, whose preferred delivery method was vaginal delivery, recommended vaginal delivery to the clients, and 58.8%, whose preferred delivery method was cesarean section, recommended cesarean section to the clients. It has been determined that physicians and nurses mainly consider cesarean section without medical justification as a right, while midwives do not consider cesarean section entitled without medical justification. A statistically significant relationship was found between the mode of delivery that would be recommended to the counselees and the mode of delivery that the participants would prefer (χ2=49.926; p<0.001). It was determined that 97.3% of those who recommended vaginal delivery to the clients preferred vaginal delivery, and 58.8% of those who recommended cesarean section to the clients preferred cesarean section. As a result, it was found that physicians mostly preferred cesarean section, midwives and nurses mostly preferred vaginal delivery. It is thought that all health personnel, especially physicians, who prefer cesarean section in their own preferences, will positively view pregnant women to have a cesarean section and therefore the cesarean delivery rates cannot be reduced. For this reason, it is recommended to encourage health personnel who are prospective parents, especially physicians, to participate in childbirth preparation training, in order to ensure that they have a positive view of vaginal birth.
