Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT While creating the design, the designer should consider many factors such as gender, cultural, environmental, social, demographic characteristics, material, function, target audience. Undoubtedly, one of the most important elements in clothing design is that the model best fits the person's body and pleases the person who wears it. The choice of fabric, which is the most important material of the garment as much as the model, is also very effective in the success of the design. In this context, fabric and model are directly related to each other. The design succeeds when the right fabric meets the right form and suitable size. In this study, the relationship between fabric and form is discussed by limiting it to women's dresses. In this context, the relationship between dress forms and fabric in the historical process has been examined by supporting visuals, and innovations brought by world-famous fashion designers to dress designs have been evaluated through collections. In line with these researches, experimental dress models were created with the draping technique on a mannequin. While the same fabric was used in the two designed dress models, two different models were obtained from the same fabric in the other two designs and the model-fabric relations were observed and the results were conveyed.
