Abstract (EN)

The negative effect of prison life on individuals is not only about psychological perceptions. Also another result of being convicted causes sedentary life style. Accordingly it is a well-known fact that it is almost impossible to remain healthy in a psychological and physiological manner. This research aims to determine psychological perception levels of female prisoners in Antalya L type Closed Prison and effects of exercise on their perception. This study is based on both theoretical and practical aspects. While theoretical side includes definition of guilt and guiltiness, practical side is based on a sample 121. Female prisoners taken from a population of 202 female prisoners in Antalya L type Closed Prison. Personal information form prepared by researcher, for determining level of individuals physical activity" Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire" which was adapted to Turkish culture by Ince et al. (2009), for level of individuals psychological perception "Psychological Well-Being" which was developed by Ryff (1989) and adapted to Turkish culture by Akın (2008), "self-esteem scale" which was developed by Rosenberg (1963) and adapted to Turkish culture by Çuhadaroğlu (1986), "Beck Depression Inventory" which was developed by Beck (1963) and validity - reliability of study by Hisli (1988), "State –Trait Anxiety Inventory" was developted by Spielberger et al. (1970) and validity - reliability of study by Öner and Le Compte (1985) were used for collecting data which created the resource of this study. The data has been collected as a result of survey were analyzed by SPSS 21 programme. Descriptive statistical methods were used to determine the female prisoners' personal characteristics and demographic information. T Test was used to determine the affect of exercise on female prisoners psychological perception such as psychological well-being, anxiety, depression, self-esteem in normally distributed conditions, ANOVA was used to define the difference between experiment and control group's psychological perception levels. LSD Analyze of Post Hoc Tests is used for significance level of ANOVA results and determine the difference in groups. The result of the study is assessed by 0.05 significance level. As a result, this study helped us to come up with a conclusion that Women Prisoners in Antalya L type Closed Prison who have higher level of psychological perception want to participate in exercises and activities more than the other prisoners who had lower level of psychological perception before the study. The psychological perception level of female prisoners who have participated in exercise increased in the posttest according to pretest but there is not statistically significant difference. Female prisoners who have participated to activities (Control Group 1) and nonparticipated prisoners (Control group 2) level of psychological perception does not increase, and moreover decrease in so many sub-dimensions.
