The relation with adaptation to pregnancy and maternal-fetal attachment of the domestic violence against women

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The research was to determine the relationship between domestic violence against women and maternal-fetal attachment and pregnancy compliance. Material and method: This descriptive and relationship-seeking research was conducted with pregnant women who applied to the obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinics of Beydağı Campus of Malatya Training and Research Hospital. When power analysis was performed, the sample size was calculated as at least 372 pregnant women with 5% error level, 95% confidence interval at bidirectional significance level and 80% representation power. The research was completed with 385 pregnant women. Data were collected between December 2018 - March 2019 with Personal Information Form, Domestic Violence Against Women Scale (AKYŞÖ), Prenatal Maternal Attachment Scale (DÖABÖ), and Prenatal Self-Assessment Scale (PKDÖ). Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test in independent groups, one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis analysis, Mann Whitney U test and pearson correlation analysis were used for data analysis. Results: The mean total score of the AKYŞÖ was 64.42 ± 5.30. It was determined that there was a statistically significant positive relationship between AKYŞÖ and DÖABÖ total and sub-dimensions (quality of attachment and time spent to attach) (respectively; r = 0.237, r = 0.187, r = 0.234; p˂0.05). It was determined that there was a statistically significant positive relationship between AKYŞÖ and PKDÖ total and sub-dimensions (thoughts about the health of herself and her baby, acceptance of pregnancy, acceptance of motherhood role, readiness for birth, fear of birth, status of relationship with her own mother and status of relationship with her spouse). (respectively; r = 0.428, r = 0.185, r = 0.436, r = 0.404, r = 0.180, r = 0.237, r = 0.414, r = 0.586; p˂0.05). According to some characteristics of women according to the average score obtained from AKYŞÖ, he and his wife, university graduates, employees, spouses, civil servants, income equivalent to the expense, living in the nuclear family, met and get married, his wife and himself non-smokers, pregnancy planned ones and primigravida it was determined that the average score they received from the lower (p <0.05). Conclusion: As the domestic violence against women increased, maternal-fetal attachment increased and adaptation to pregnancy decreased.
