Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among marriage and divorce tendincies of women along with their education, working, and social media usage. In this thesis, the family origins, education levels, working and social media usage of 120 women from five different education levels and working groups who live in Kozan and in center of Adana were examined. The effect of authoritarian and religious attitudes of participants and education levels and incomes of parents on marriage and divorce tendincies were also examined. In theoretical and conceptual part of the thesis, the terms of gender, gender culture, marriage, family, divorce and social media were given along with marriage and divorce statistics of Adana and Turkey. According to the research findings, the rates of marriage and divorce tendincies of women may change depending upon women's education level and working, the birth place, religious and authoritarian tendincies, social media usage, parents' education levels and incomes. As the education level and working status increase, marriage tendincy does not decrease but divorce tendency partially increases. It was revealed that the women who use social media account have a lower marriage tendency and a higher divorce tendency compared to those who do not use a social media account. Although the women have high education levels and working status, socioeconomic and cultural conditions are also important in marriage and divorce tendincies.
