Abstract (EN)

Although women took part in continuous working life from the early times to the present day, they took part in the labour market for wages for the first time with the Industrial Revolution. The changing economic conditions with globalization have created the expectation that women will be more involved in the labour market. However, women facing many problems such as social values, the role of motherhood and housewife, low level of education, gender inequality have taken part in the informal sectors and, contrary to expectations, have occurred. The increase in the overall employment rate is linked to an increase in women's employment rates. For this reason, the work on women's employment has increased and many countries have started to fight against issues that could pose obstacles to women's employment. At the beginning of this struggle is to change the prejudices and sexist perspective sexist towards women's work. In this study, factors affecting women's employment in Turkey, problems experienced by women in working life, employment structures in the EU and Turkey and women's employment choices were examined and women's employment compared to the one. It is aimed to investigate the reasons for the low rate of women's employment in Turkey and the issues necessary to increase women's employment. The study consists of three sections: Employment and Related Concepts in General, Women's and Women's Employment in Working Life, Comparison of European Union and Turkey within the scope of Women's Employment Choices. In the first part of the study, employment, employment theories, employment policies (Active employment policies, Passive employment policies) and the labour market and characteristics of Turkey and the EU were discussed. In the second part of the study, the historical development of the women's workforce, the problems faced by women in working life and the factors affecting women's employment in Turkey were examined under the main heading "Women and Women in The Working Life". In the last part of the study, the legal regulations on the participation of women in the workforce in Turkey, the employment choices of women in Turkey and the European Union, the women's employment policies of some eu member states were examined and the women and women's compared to employment, data obtained from data distribution sites were used in evaluations.
