Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the emotions of elementary school teachers in terms of some variables on the state of belonging to their profession and to provide several implications for the differences depending upon the status of the teachers working as permanent ,temporary and casual staff.for this aim,Firstly,a general conceptual analysis on the importance of the state of belonging to profession and the factors affecting this situation was presented.As a descriptive study, dependent variables of this research were the feelings of elementary school teachers on the state of belonging to their profession.besides, variables on the state of belonging to profession of teachers such as status, educational status, gender, the current institution, years in current school, years in profession, branch, the current school level were used as independent variables. However, the thoughts and proposals affecting the state of belonging of teachers to their own professions about the discrimination of the teacher status as permanent, temporary and casual staff was examined.In this study, a total of 619 teachers working in 41 elementary schools from Antalya?s Alanya district were selected as the study sample by using cluster-sampling method. A self-developed questionnaire was used to gather data. In order to analyze the data, t-test for Independent Samples and One-Way Anova (ANOVA) were used.Results from this study indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the state of belonging to profession of teachers according to the variables such as branch and educational status. The results also demonstrated that teachers? feelings on the state of belonging to their profession varied significantly in terms of the status, educational level, gender, current school, years in current school and years in profession.Besides it was concluded that some people have more positive thoughts on the state of belonging to their profession such as permanent teaching staff has more advantages than temporary or casual teaching staff at schools, people graduated from Institutions of Higher Education have also more superiorities than people graduated from Faculties of Education, teachers working in the centre of districts have more opportunities than teachers working in the villages, In addition teachers working at schools nine years or higher have more advantages than the lower categories.Some of the teachers participated in the research have in the opinion that the Professional state of belonging of them has been affected negatively by the discrimination of the status. In addition, Most of the teachers suggested that the temporary teaching staff,the casual teaching staff should be abolished or the problems related with this subject should be arranged in a beter condition.Finally, thanks to these findings, some proposals that may be realized in the future as scientific researches about the state of of belonging to profession and discrimination of the status.Key words: The state of belonging, the state of belonging to profession, permanent staff teaching, temporary staff teaching, casual staff teaching, the status of teachers, the discrimination of the status.
