Abstract (EN)

In this study, removal of methylene blue (MB) as common textile dye onto Turkish coffee grounds and filters coffee grounds was investigated by adsorption. The effect of initial dye concentration, pH and time was studied for adsorption of MB. Firstly, Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were calculated from the obtained data. Langmuir Model (R2=0,9896) was more fitted than Freundlich Model for Turkish coffee grounds. Secondly, kinetic studies were done for the removal of MB on the Turkish coffee grounds and filter coffee grounds. The adsorption of MB follows pseudo second order kinetic with good correlations. Also, Turkish coffee grounds and filter coffee grounds were characterized with SEM. Finally, this study shown that Turkish coffee grounds and filter coffee grounds could be effective, easy available, no-cost and environmental friendly adsorbent for the removal of MB.
