Abstract (EN)
This experimental study was conducted at the Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiovascular Service of Dr. SiyamiErsek Breast and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital in order to determine the effect of music listening on surgical fear in patients with cardiovascular surgery. Surgical interventions such as open heart surgery and valve surgery are interventions that affect the patient physically and psychologically and cause fear and anxiety in patients. For this, it is necessary to determine and decrease the level of fear and anxiety of the patients before the operation. This can be accomplished by methods that will brighten the patient's anxiety before surgery. This study was planned to determine the effect of music listening on surgical fear in patients with cardiovascular surgery. The study group participated in the study was 59% of the patients and over age group. 46% of the patients in the control group were between 53 and 55 years of age. It was found that the fear and anxiety ratios of the female patients in the experimental and control groups were higher than the males and the difference between the groups was significant (p<0,05). The anxiety levels of the male patients in the control group were found to be higher than those of the women and the difference between the groups was found to be significant (p<0,01). When the State Anxiety and Surgical Anxiety Scale of the Experimental and Control Group Patients were compared with the subscales and total point averages the difference between the groups was significant (p<0,05). It was determined that the total surgical fear, short term fear, long term fear and state anxiety ratio of the experimental group were significantly lower than control group and the difference between the groups in each subscale and total score was significant (p<0,001) the detection of fear and anxiety levels and the application of methods to reduce it are suggested.
