Abstract (EN)

Endorsement is a transaction that enables the transfer of promissory notes. Since bills of exchange are promissory notes by law, their circulation is commonly done by endorsement in practice. In our study, the concept of endorsement in bills of exchange is examined. In our study, first of all, the concept of bills of exchange was examined. In the second part, the general features of the concept of endorsement, which is the main subject of our study, are examined. The definition of the endorsement, its legal nature, form, the period during which the endorsement can be made and the persons in the endorsement have been meticulously examined. In the last part of our study, different distinctions are made and types of endorsement are given. In this context, the concepts of full endorsement and white endorsement, which are types of endorsement according to their shape, and collection endorsement, assignment endorsement, pledge endorsement, which are turnover types according to the subject, are examined in detail. In our study, different views and theoretical debates in the doctrine related to our study subject were examined in detail. In addition, in order to see the reflection of our study subject in practice, the decisions of the Supreme Court are given wide coverage.
