Özet (EN)

The environment plays an important role in the environmental psychology literature, which examines the influence of the environment on human behavior. Human behavior occurs in the physical and social environment that meets their needs and needs. For this reason, it is necessary to note that environmental psychology is related to the social environment as well as to the physical environment. Especially in the ever-changing world, the diversification of needs along with the increase of mobility has made it even more important to question the connection that man has established with space. Likewise, as a result of the physical and social features provided by open spaces, some spaces are transformed into living spaces, which are heavily used by users, and empty spaces that are not used. On this issue, a research model has been put in order to investigate what physical and social characteristics of open spaces should be, and the effects of the success of these properties on user satisfaction and feelings of attachment. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of the physical and social characteristics of the environment only on user satisfaction and place attachment. For this reason, it is important to note that the past experience of users is similar to that of the user group, but their environmental characteristics are different. Open spaces of Kanuni Campus were chosen. The research method consists of spatial analysis and questionnaires. With the research model created as a result of the study, it has been revealed that user satisfaction and sense of devotion are increased in successful campus open spaces where user needs are met at a higher level. Especially, it has been shown that the social characteristics (uses and activities, sociability), the physical characteristics (comfort and identity, access and linkages), the user satisfaction and the sense of loyalty are influenced at a higher level. At the same time, it has been shown that users develop dependency (functional attachment) firstly against campus open spaces they are in, and then they develop ground identity (emotional attachment) depending on time.
