Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, active carbon produced by fast pyrolysis method and the efficiency of this carbon was studied by using reed (Phragmites australis). Purpose of thesis is obtaining active carbon which has good pore distribution, maximum adsorption feature and wide surface using by area. And to provide this production with a microwave oven system that can be carried out faster and in less time rather than a conventional (slow) pyrolysis system. In order to perform the pyrolysis process with the microwave oven, a rapid pyrolysis system was installed with the 2,45 GHz microwave oven in the laboratory environment. In this thesis, o-phosphoric acid asit (% 30, % 40, % 50 and % 60) was prefered to activate raw material. The pyrolysis was performed for activated reed samples at 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes with 350 watt and 450 watt power values. Analyzes were carried out with BET, FT-IR, XRD and SEM to determine the characterization of activated carbons. In this study, the best result was obtained from the rapid pyrolysis of the sample activated with % 40 o-phosphoric acid in 20 minutes under 300 watt power. BET surface area of 1096,90 m2/g was determined as the best active carbon sample obtained under optimum conditions.
