A research on perceptions of management issues in public hospitals: case of Kastamonu

Since human beings are the focus of health services, countries allocate an important part of their economies to health expenditures. The management and organization of health services with such a high economic share needs to function effectively. The fact that hospitals, which are the locomotives of health care, have distinct characteristics from other service sectors, necessitates that the hospital management be handled with a scientific management approach. In this context, care should be taken in the management of public hospitals providing health services and they should develop new practices in order to increase customer satisfaction. In this context, the research on perceptions of hospital management problems has been examined under four main headings. First, management and organization are explained in a conceptual framework. Secondly, health service concepts and management and management functions of public hospitals are explained. Thirdly, a literature search was made on the subject and an empirical survey was conducted on the employees of Kastamonu State Hospital. The results of the analyzes in this section are supported by brief explanations. In the last chapter, arguments have been made about what the main management problems in public hospitals are and how they can be overcome. As a result of the research, the source of administrative problems in the institution; the competence of managers, the distribution of personnel within the organization, fair management, communication between management and personnel, and returns from service areas were not taken into consideration.
