The effect of emotional intelligence of health managers working in public institutions on job satisfaction

Nowadays, all companies operating in both national and international fields need to have employees with high levels of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, who can adapt to all kinds of changes and developments in order to perform effectively and efficiently. Although there is a widespread belief that people who love their job will be more productive in their work, detailed studies are needed on the issues that are effective in the emergence of this situation. In business life, with the increasing importance of the Human element, the basic condition for keeping up with the dynamic environmental conditions for the enterprises; to understand its employees. In order to understand and motivate employees' goals and desires; a leader must first understand his own goals and aspirations and be able to motivate himself first. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence of the managers working in health institutions, which is an important public domain, and their own job satisfaction, and to conduct an applied field research to obtain data in this direction. In the research, face to face survey technique was used as data collection tool. For the purpose of the study, there are two kinds of variables in the research. The dependent variable was job satisfaction and the independent variable was emotional intelligence. The sample of the study consisted of 136 managers working in the central campus and additional service buildings of Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate operating in Istanbul city center. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS v22.0 statistical package program on computer. As a result of the research, it was found that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. In addition, it was found that emotional intelligence and job satisfaction had a significant relationship between managers' gender and age.
