Abstract (EN)

Health care delivery should continue uninterruptedly because it serves humanity and humanity. During uninterrupted work, health personnel can make medical errors. The aim of this study is to determine the medical error tendencies and medical error attitudes of intensive care nurses working in a public private partnership hospital and to investigate the effects of clinical conditions on medical error attitudes in nurses. The sample of the study consists of 131 nurses working in the intensive care units of Adana City Training and Research Hospital, who agreed to participate in the study between November 2019 and February 2020. Data were collected using "Personal Information Form on Nurses", "Medical Error Trend Scale in Nursing" and "Attitude Scale in Medical Errors". In the analysis of the data, the SPSS 22.0 statistical package program used for analyze, One-way ANOVA test, Kruskal Wallis variance analysis, Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact Test test were used. From the medical error tendency scale , nurses working in the coronary intensive care unit got 236.0 (224.5-242.0) points, nurses working in internal intensive care got 237.0 (218.0-244.0) points, nurses working in pediatric intensive care got 236.5 (223.8-244.0) points, nurses working in the neurosurgical intensive care unit got 236.0 (224.5-242.0) points. This result showed that nurses have a low propensity to medical errors. Nurses working in the coronary intensive care unit scored 2.5±0.2 points, nurses working in internal intensive care unit scored 2.7±0.2 points, nurses working in pediatric intensive care unit scored 2.7±0.3 points, and nurses working in neurosurgery intensive care unit scored 2.6±0.3 points. Nurses' medical error attitudes were determined to be negative. In post-hoc analyzes, it was determined that the difference in medical error attitude and total score was due to the high number of patients treated in coronary intensive care units. The high workload of intensive care nurses negatively affects their medical error attitudes.
