Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of 10-minute non-resistance cycling exercise on quality of life and low back pain in patients with spinal stenosis. The study was carried out in the Tuzla Private Gisbir Hospital. A total of 20 patients diagnosed with canal narrowing was included in the study. Patients aged 65 and over, those with chronic diseases, and pregnant women were not included in the study. The ages of the patients with spinal stenosis included in the study ranged from 19 to 48, and the mean age was 31.60±9.38 years. Of the spinal stenosis patients included in the study, 11 (55%) were male and 9 (45%) were female. There was no significant relationship between the quality of life of patients with spinal stenosis and their age before and after 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise (p>0,05).Although female patients with spinal stenosis achieved higher scores in all sub-dimensions of quality of life before and after 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise, the difference in the quality of life by gender was significant here was no relationship between age and low back pain before and after 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise.(p>0,05) Although there was no significant difference between the low back pain levels of male and female patients with spinal stenosis before 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise (p>0,05), it was observed that male patients had a significantly higher level of low back pain after exercise than female patients. Physical role difficulty(p=0,024), social function (p=0) and pain level (p=0) were significantly higher after cycling exercise. In addition, it was observed that the total quality of life of the participants after 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise increased significantly compared to before the cycling exercise (p<0,05). It was observed that the level of low back pain after cycling exercise decreased significantly compared to before exercise (p<0,001). Again, as a result of the study, it was seen that 10 minutes of non-resistance cycling exercise provided a significant improvement in the quality of life of the patients and a significant decrease in VAS scores. As a result, it has been seen that non-resistance cycling exercise improves the quality of life and reduces the severity of pain in patients with spinal stenosis, which shows that non-resistance cycling exercises can be used to increase the quality of life and reduce the level of pain in patients with spinal stenosis.
