Abstract (EN)
The Bosphorus Strait is a waterway connecting the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea and is one of the most dangerous straits in terms of ship traffic in the world. It is a strategically important waterway in the Bosphorus, where a total of 115 vessels cross the north and south directions per day. Due to the increase in international trade volume in the world and our country, the dimensions of the ships passing through the Bosphorus Strait increase. These ships, which have huge tonnages and carry dangerous cargoes, pass through the middle of our city which is the most populous and unique in our history. The aim of this study is to analyze the necessity of the Kanal Istanbul project, which is planned to be an alternative to the Bosphorus Strait, with the simulation model to be created, considering that the Bosphorus Strait is the most dangerous waterway in the world in terms of ship traffic. For this purpose, the current ship traffic density in the Bosphorus Strait is simulated in the Arena simulation program together with the planned Kanal Istanbul and the results of the model are interpreted.
