Determination of yield and some quality criteria of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) grown by poultry fertilization

This study was carried out to determine the effects of different doses of chicken and turkey manure applications on yield and some quality characteristics of bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) in Bolu ecological conditions in 2021 year. The study was designed according to the Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replications, and 4 different (1000, 1250, 1500 and 1750 kg/da) turkey and chicken manure doses and control (without manure) were applied. In the study,50% flowering time (55,00-70,33 days), first fruit setting (62,00-79,33 days), plant height (82,23-119,17 cm), fruit length (8,47-11,15 cm), fruit diameter (3,56-4,20 cm), flesh thickness (4,09-5,27 mm), number of seeds (15,97-23,63 number),1000 seed weight (133,17-164,03 g), fresh weight (246,93-1423,26 kg/da), freshweight (49,39-131,91 g/plant), dry weight (11,52-58,73 kg/da), dry weight (2,30-11,75 g/plant), protein content (4,49-7,80%), fatty oil content (22,74-26,2), total phenolic content (6,39-21,13 mg GAE/g), total flavonoid content (2,42-11,44 mg QE/g), FRAP (39,11-73,52 mg QE/g), fatty acids; capric acid (24,64-46,60%), lauric acid (12,21-30,09%), tridecanoic acid (0,38-8,80%), palmitic acid (0,24-3,19%), myristic acid (0,29-14,92%), cis-10 pentadecanoic acid (0,70-8,10%) were deteAccording to the results obtained from the study; 1423,26 kg/da 1500 kg/da chicken manure in terms of fruit yield, 58,73 kg/da 1500 kg/da chicken manure in terms of dry weight yield, 1750 kg/da turkey manure in terms of protein content, 1000 kg/da turkey manure doses in terms of fatty oil and capric acid can be recommended.
