The commented text of the Divan by Kani

In the 18 th century, despite the decline of the Ottoman Empire, Turkish literature was experiencing its most powerful era. In our study, we rewrote the Divan by Ebu Bekir Kâriî in latin characters. Also in the introductory part we provided some valuable information about the poltical and literary situation in that century. By making use of the poems and works on literary history, the life of the poef, his personel details and works have been fully presented and commented on. Ebu Bekir Kâriî was born in Tokat in 1712. He was one of the most praised poems in his hometown. He was a member of the Mevlevi Sect. He lived in Tokat until he was 40 years old. Later in his life, he moved to Istanbul by the help Hekimoğlu Ali Pasha. He had some difficulty in adopting to the life in Istanbul. In his poems, he tended to make use of witty expressions and style. As he was so sincere and free from any self preference, he couldn't have a good contact with other people. Kant, who had been in exile for some time, died in 1791. His Grave is in Eyyüp, in Istanbul. In his Dîvân, he used a very informal style, and there. We find sincere praise and sitayisname about our prophet and some well - known religious figures. Literary historians do not consider Kâriî as a poem just because he widely used informal style in his works. With this study, we have completed the text of the Dîvân by Kâriî. Our forth coming studies will focus on the poet's literary personality. We will be very pleased if we made any contributions to our literary history.
