Abstract (EN)
In this study, chemical composition of canola (Brassica napus L) straw growing in Turkey were investigated. The ration of holocellulose, alpha cellulose, cellulose, lignin, ash, alcohol?benzene extractable, cold and hot water and 1% soda solubility from typical chemical composition of canola straw were determined.Besides, in pulp production with kraft-sodium borohydride pulping method from canola straw and its effect on pulp yield was investigated. 21 trials performed for determination of optimum pulping condition. As a results of the data obtained, optimum kraft-NaBH4 pulping condition were as follows; sulphidity charge on oven dry (o.d) raw material: 28%, active alkali charge (o.d raw material): 20%, sodium borohydride charge (o.d raw material): 0.5%, cooking temperature: 150 °C, time at maximum temperature: 120 minute, liquor to straw ratio: 5/1.In conclusion, addition of NaBH4 increased the screened yield of kraft pulp approximately 9%.Key words: Canola (Brassica napus L.) straw, kraft, NaBH4, pulp, paper
