Development of the sleep assesment scale for children with cancer: Adolescant and parents form

Aim: The aim of this study is; Sleep Assessment Scale for Children with Cancer The development of the Adolescent and Parental Form is an assessment of its validity and reliability. Methods: he sample of this study is composed of adolescents and parents who lived in İzmir Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital Oncology Clinic and Dokuz Eylul University Nevvar-Salih İşgören Children's Hospital Oncology Clinic between the ages of 12-18 and who applied for polyclinic. İzmir Ege University Medical Faculty Hospital Oncology Clinic and Dokuz Eylül University Nevvar-Salih İşgören Children's Hospital Oncology Clinic established 147 adolescents and parents who were treated from adolescents and their parents. The data were collected between 01.09.2016 and 31.11.2017. Scale validity of the scale was assessed by consulting the opinions of 16 specialists in the fields of child oncology and hematology. In the analysis of the data, number / percentage, t test, correlation analysis, Cronbach α reliability coefficient and factor analysis methods were used. Findings: The Validation Factor Analysis was used to determine the construct validity of the Sleep Assessment Scale for Children with Cancer. In this analysis, the compliance indices were found as RMSEA = 0.04, CFI = 0.97, NNFI = 0.96 and NFI = 0.89 in the Adolescent Form and RMSEA = 0.06, CFI = 0.95, NNFI = 0.94 and NFI = 0.87 in the Parent Form. For reliability, the Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient for the overall scale was found to be .86 for the .87 parental form and .86 for the parental form. Factor analysis results of the construct validity of the scale showed that the data confirms that the model is consistent with the model, that it confirms four factors, that the items and subdimensions of the scale are related to the scale, and that the items in each subdimension adequately define their own factor. Conclusion: The results of the analyzes and evaluations made are as follows: The Sleep Assessment Scale for Children with Cancer Adolescent and Parental Form were found to have high reliability and validity. These results are valid and reliable measurement tool for research to be held in Turkey's development scale. Key Words: Cancer, Adolescant, sleep, sleep quality Validity and Reliability.
