Abstract (EN)
The "Peşrev Form," renowned within Ottoman/Turkish music, stands as one of the most ancient compositions found in Ottoman/Turkish music archives. With a rich history, this form has traversed diverse contexts throughout centuries, encompassing military, chamber, outdoor, concert, and recital settings. This study delves into the dynamic evolution and utilization of the peşrev form across epochs, with a focus on observed alterations within a theoretical framework.Insights from conversations with distinguished kanun virtuosos such as Bekir Reha Sağbaş, Celaleddin Aksoy, Deniz Göktaş, Ruhi Ayangil, and Tahir Aydoğdu contribute to the exploration. These discussions probe the nuanced performance approach for peşrevs from distinct eras and settings, exemplified through structured interviews. The research is organized around two core facets: "Essential Insights and Skills for Peşrev Performance" and "Performance Traits in Expert-Rendered Peşrevs." These dimensions encapsulate the research's sub-problems.The investigation amalgamates a comprehensive review of existing literature, which fortifies the theoretical underpinnings. Following the interviews, transcribed data undergoes meticulous content analysis, culminating in thematic discoveries. The findings underscore the uniqueness of each peşrev's rendition, underlining the primacy of aesthetic considerations and contextual alignment with the epoch's stylistic essence. Performers are encouraged to acquaint themselves with the composer's background and the historical tapestry within which the peşrev emerged.Leveraging insights from proficient performers, this study endeavors to outline theoretical requisites and pragmatic necessities in peşrev execution, simultaneously delving into the motivation driving overarching aesthetic choices. Aided by dialogues with maestros, this endeavor offers a valuable resource in the realm of kanun and peşrev performance, illuminating pathways for music enthusiasts. The study's potential lies in its ability to foster positive musician behavior and contribute to the lasting cultivation of musical comprehension.
