Abstract (EN)
In Classical Turkish music, the hymn form has an important place in Turkish religious music. The hymns composed from Sufi poems can be seen as the most common form used in religious music. One of the composers of Turkish music, kanun performer Cüneyd Kosal made important contributions to Turkish music as an archivist and notist in addition to his work as a composer and kanun player. The life, artistic personality, performance and composition of Cüneyd Kosal, most of whose compositions are in the form of hymns, are discussed. The musical evaluation of the works in the form of hymn composed by Cüneyd Kosal constitutes the subject of this study. In this study, which is a qualitative research, literature review was used as a data collection technique. It is a descriptive research based on the survey model.The hymns subject to the research were analysed and evaluated in terms of maqam, usûl (rhythm) and lyricist. When the obtained sources are analysed, it is seen that Cüneyd Kosal composed 64 of his 79 compositions in the form of hymns. In his hymns, he mostly used Rast, Ferahnâk Aşîran and Hüseynî maqams and at least Nühüft, Iraq and Mâye maqams. In terms of usûl, he mostly used Sofyan, least Devr-i Revân, Curcuna and Devr-i Kebîr.As lyricist, he received lyrics from Sefer Dal and Yunus Emre the most, Sinan Ümmî, Şeyh Vefâ and Ahmed Kuddûsî the least. This study is important in terms of transferring it to future generations and being an example for such studies.
