İİ SIMULATION OF A CHAOTIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (M.S& Thesis) Fonda ERGUN GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY January 2005 ABSTRACT Chaotic systems can be defined as "sensitively dependent to initial conditions and immeasurably complex" systems. An immeasurable small change in the initial conditions may cause unmeasurably high variations in the future conditions of the system. Besides the sensitive dependence to the initial conditions, chaotic systems have a wideband, noise-like and nonperiodic structure. With this characteristic, chaotic systems found wide application areas; usually in different science fields and especially in engineering branches. Communications is one of the important applications of chaotic systems. Chaotic masking, chaotic modulation, chaotic shift keying and predictable control method are used in chaotic communications systems. In this study, a general information about chaos and chaotic systems is given and the simulations of Chaotic Shift Keying (CSK) and Differential Chaotic Shift Keying (DCSK) which are applications of spread spectrum chaotic communications, are realized.
