Geography of everyday life of women in the urban space including patriarchal capitalism relations of power the case of Tokat

The purpose of this study is to determine how women with different class and cultural backgrounds in relation to the urban space built by the capitalist patriarchal system develop in the context of everyday life practices. The main reason for focusing on everyday life is that there is a reciprocal relationship with the relations of power that are scattered in the social structure and attributed certain roles to individuals. In this regard, Henri Lefebvre's theory about everyday life and Michel Foucault's theory about power relations also used. Exploring everyday life practices, which are areas of power struggle, make it possible to see the sexist nature of these practices in the context of social space. Because the power relations which are create by gender based division of labor are influential on the construction and functioning of the space. There is therefore a geography of gender relations. In line with this geography, the experience of women and man's space differs as a result of the social construction of gender identity. However, given the fact that femininity is not a single category, there is a difference between women in terms of experiencing the space as well. This is the fundamental difference lies in the class and cultural status of women. From this perspective, this study tried to determine the relationship of women with urban space through two districts with different class and cultural structures in Tokat. In this framework, the relationship with urban space established by women was tried to be explained objectively by mapping women's on the basis of everyday life. The findings obtained with the structured interview plan were analyzed qualitatively. The class and cultural differences of the women living in the two districts lead to the segregation of the everyday life geographies in the urban space.
