Abstract (EN)
In recent years, a number of authoritarian populist leaders – from Donald Trump to Jair Bolsonaro, Narendra Modi and Marine Le Pen – and a series of far-right movements, including Alternative for Germany and Lega, have begun to rise. This study claims that these successive right-wing populist movements have eliminated the executive-legislative-judicial balance, refused any space for oppositional social movements, and abolished democratic rights and freedoms, and that the politicization of society did not become stronger as a result of coincidence. It aims to show that right-wing populism is part of the authoritarian transformation of the state that intends to maintain the existing system when the capitalist mode of production loses its dynamism due to its structural contradictions and when the blockage before capital accumulation needs to be overcome. In this context, the current authoritarian tendency is analyzed by considering the dialectical relations between the state and the existing mode of production-capital accumulation models, structural contradictions, and class struggles. This study seeks to answer the questions of what kind of state the capitalist accumulation model has historically needed, what roles the state plays in the reproduction of the system, and what changes in conditions lead to the state's transformation into a fascist or authoritarian populist form.
