Abstract (EN)

This study; it covers the districts of Karaburun, Ağaçlı, Işıklar and Yassıören, which are within the northern borders of the Çatalca Plateau of Istanbul, in the north of the Marmara Region. In the last 50 years, the slope characteristics of the site have been changed to a large extent, first during the coal mine operations, then during the construction of the Northern Marmara Motorway, and then during the construction of the Istanbul Airport and connection roads. These changes have caused serious changes in the behavior of surface waters. Changes in natural flow accumulations and natural flow directions have brought some problems to the agenda. Changes in land use characteristics from past to present for the area specified in this thesis, how these changes affect the natural slope conditions, It is aimed to investigate how these effects change the surface natural flow accumulation and flow directions and the problems that they cause and will be. In order to achieve this aim, first of all, the physical geography features of the area were carefully investigated, and the natural slope features of the study area were mentioned. Then, changes in land use were evaluated comparatively with the latest remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support. Finally, it has been revealed what kind of problems the changes in natural flow accumulation and flow direction cause.
