Determination of the changes of pikeperch (Sander lucioperca (Linnaeus, 1758)) population structure in Karacaören?I Dam Lake

This study aims at comparing the difference in population structure of pikeperch (Sander lucioperca (L., 1758)) in Karacaören-I Dam Lake with the data gathered from the studies done before. The process of sample collecting continued from December 2008 to October 2009. During the sample collecting period, it was tried to gather as many people as possible by contacting the fisherman and cooperatives which are active in the lake. During the fishing prohibited period which is between 15 March 2009 and 15 June 2009, it was tried to collect samples by getting the permission of Ministry of Agriculture. Between November 2008 and October 2009, 113 pikeperches were caught. It is determined that from fishing, 42 pikeperches are female (37,2 %), 71 pikeperches are male (62,8 %). It is observed that the length of the fish hunted ranges between 19,7 cm and 68 cm and the weight of the fish hunted ranges between 77,5g and 3472,9 g. It is determined that the age of the fish ranges from I to IX and the age groups I (39,9 %) and V (28,3 %) constitute the majority. The stomach fullness level of the fish hunted is examined and it is determined that the stomachs of samples are 29,88 % full and when full-stomachs are examined, Atherina boyeri is mostly (89,41 %) identified. The condition factor of pikeperch caught in the Karacaören-I Dam Lake is determined to be as 1,001. It appears that there is a crucial decrease in the population of pikeperch in this lake, like in the others.
