Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the views of the nurses working at the Liver Transplant Institute on the Subject of Organ Transplantation and Donation. Material and Method: The research is descriptive in nature. The study was conducted with 83 nurses working at TÖTM Liver Transplant Institute in July 2021 to nurses working at İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center Liver Transplant Institute. A 32-item questionnaire was used as a data collection tool in the study. The research data were carried out with the SPSS 24.0 statistical data evaluation program. Results: It has been found that the number of nurses donating organs is low, the nurses have a high level of knowledge about the place where organ donation will be made, the nurses direct their relatives about organ donation, and they have expectations from the authorities in order to raise public awareness about organ donation and transplantation. Conclusion: Organ donors among nurses are at a very low level. Nurses have information about the places where organ donation will be made. Nurses have received training on organ donation and transplantation, and most of them consider the level of knowledge on this subject to be sufficient due to the training they have received. Nurses direct their relatives to organ donation and transplantation. The nurses participating in the research have informative expectations from the authorities in terms of raising public awareness about organ transplantation and donation.
