Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Dayanat A. "Evaluation of the amount of liver fat with pancreas and lumbal vertebrae fat fraction with modified DIXON MRI method", Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Thesis in Radiology, Ankara, 2018.The purpose of the present study was to determine liver, pancreas and vertebral fat deposition by proton density fat fraction (PDFF) MRI and to evaluate the relationships among them. A total of 237 patients that Abdomen MRI were performed in Hacettepe Hospital Radiology Department between November 2015 and November 2017 were included in our study. In this study, a MRI sequence generic name DĠXON-quant obtained in single breath taking less than 25 seconds was used and the measurement of the fat fraction values was calculated by a single doctor via the workstation. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bilirubin, fasting glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides levels, and platelet were measured by our central laboratory on a 24-channel automated chemical analyzer using standard reagents. There is no difference in fat distribution between different segments and lobes of liver, pancreas and vertebra in the distribution of the amount of liver fat. There is a correlation between the amount of liver, pancreas and vertebra fat, and the amount of pancreas and vertebra fat is significantly higher in patients with hepatic steatosis compared to patients without. There is a correlation between serum ALT, GGT, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride and HDL levels and liver fat level. The MRI PDFF technique can be used to measure the amount of fat in other organs where it is successful in measuring the amount of fat in the liver. The amount of fat in the pancreas and vertebra correlates with the amount of liver fat, and MRI-PDFF can be used to demonstrate fat fractions of different organs and tissues and to understand fat metabolism. Keywords: Liver steatosis, pancreas fat, lumbal vertebra fat, MRI PDFF
