Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION: In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the effect of adiposity on ovarian reserve by looking at serum AMH and FSH levels in female rats with fatty liver by providing an obesity model with a high-fat diet. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For our study, approval was obtained from Sakarya University Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee (SÜHADYEK) with the decision dated 07.10.2020 and numbered 57, and all experimental applications were carried out in accordance with ethical rules. The histopathology of the tissues removed at the end of the experiment were studied in Sakarya University Medical Faculty Histology Department and biochemistry values were studied in Sakarya University Medical Faculty Biochemistry Department research laboratories. RESULTS: Although this study started with 16 female Spraque Dawley rats, the study was continued with 15 rats (DG n=8, KG n=7) since one animal from the control group died in the second week. Weight measurements in both control and experimental groups, which we formed in the direction of body weight averages at the beginning of the study and after liver fattening, increased statistically significantly (p<0.001). The increase in the experimental group was greater than in the control group (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: At the end of our experiment, obesity developed in all of the study group, in which we obtained fatty liver, and in some of the control group. The presence of PCOS was found pathologically in all rats with obesity. There was no statistically significant difference between the AMH, FSH values in the study group rats with fatty liver and obesity and the AMH, FSH values in the control group rats without fatty liver and obesity or only developing obesity. In the light of all these data we have obtained, we observed the effects of obesity on ovarian reserve in this study, but we did not observe a significant effect of fatty liver on ovarian reserve.
