Abstract (EN)

From the very beginning, the earth's crust has long living radioactive nuclei such as K-40, U-238, Th-232. The natural radiation occurs as a result of spontaneous radiation of these radioactive nuclei in nature.. The most important resources of natural radiation are soil, rock, groundwater and other natural resources in the earth's crust. Therefore determination of the radioactivity level of soil, water, native flora and air in one location determines the natural radioactivity of that location. In this study, natural radioactivity due to the K-40, U-238, Th-232 radionuclides and the Cs-137 nuclide activity resulting from Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in Ukraine will be determine by gamma ray spectrometry system using NaI(TI) detector (which is in Nuclear Physics Research Laboratory, Yıldız Technical University Physics Department). Various soil and tea samples taken from Rize center and districts will be measured to determine the natural radioactivity distribution of the region.. Before the activity measurements, all samples taken from different locations will be deried and sifted and fill in Marinelli Counting Pots. The activity concentrations and analysis results of K-40, U-238, Th-232 natural radioactive nuclei and Cs-137 radioactive nuclei will calculate and finally the results will compare with the United Nation Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation's (UNSCEAR 2000) average mass concentration data for K–40, U–238, Th–232 in soil.
