Özet (EN)

This study, titled Diseases and Treatment Methods in Karaisalı Region Public Veterinary Medicine, was prepared for the determination of traditional veterinary methods and practices applied by animal breeders with field studies carried out in Karaisali district centers and villages. In the first part of the study, the subject, purpose, importance, scope and limitations of the research are specified. In addition, general information about the historical, geographical, demographic, economic and socio-cultural structure of the field is given in order to have an idea about the field of study. The second part is divided into theoretical explanations about public veterinary medicine, definition of public veterinary medicine, history and treatment methods used. In the third part, examples from various regions were given in order to determine the place of the applications and practices identified from Karaisalı region within the Turkish field applications and a comparative perspective was tried to be created. Diseases and Treatment Methods are given as separate titles as Turkey field and Karaisalı region public veterinary medicine. When identifying the source persons, it was focused on the people who lived in both the central and the long-distance parts of the region, especially the people whose source of livelihood was livestock. In face-to-face interviews, the diagnosis and treatment processes of animal diseases within the limits of the thesis study were discussed. Questions to be addressed to the source persons were prepared in advance and a voice recorder and camera were used during the interview. A large number of sources have been interviewed to ensure that the data obtained from oral sources are reliable and valid. In the concluding part of this study, methods and practices belonging to Karaiasalı folk culture and folkloric public veterinary medicine which have survived to the present day were compiled and brought together. The data obtained are important in terms of showing the functions and value in public life of the public Veterinary Information System, which dates back far and has been successfully delivered to the present day.
