Abstract (EN)
The research was planned as a descriptive study in order to determine the relationship between the perceived social support levels of the patients hospitalized in the cardiology service and their anxiety and depression levels. In this context, 260 patients hospitalized in the cardiology service of Bandırma Training and Research Hospital formed the research sample. Sociodemographic characteristics data collection form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale were used as data collection tools. The collected data were evaluated with the SPSS program and descriptive analyzes (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum), one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), t-test, pearson correlation analysis, linear regression analysis and post hoc (Tukey, LSD) analyzes were used. The mean age of the patients participating in the study was 63.43±13.71, 54.6% were male, 78.8% were married, 92.3% had children, 70.8% were primary school or below in education level. It is seen that 74.8% of the patients do not have a job, 96.9% have a companion and 71.2% have an additional disease. Hospital Anxiety Depression scale mean scores of the patients were found to be 8.87±5.10 for hospital anxiety score and 7.42±4.61 for hospital depression score. Multidimensional Perceived Social Support scale scores of the patients were 62.18±18.70 for perceived social support-general, 24.38±5.21 for perceived social support-family, 18.52±8 for perceived social support-special person. .86, 19.28±8.25 for perceived social supportfriend. There was a weak negative correlation between patients' general scores of perceived social support and hospital anxiety (r=-0.36; p=0.000) and depression (r=- 0.434; p=0.000<0.05) scores. The regression analysis made; while social support from family and friends reduces the level of hospital anxiety and depression; shows that social support from a private person does not affect the level of hospital anxiety and depression.
