Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the effect of composite reinforcements are investigated in experimental studies on aluminum square tubes for improving load carrying and energy absorption ability. Glass fiber reinforced polymers are used as external reinforcement material, also different size of cast PA6 plugs are used as internal reinforcement material.Under 3-point bending loads, aluminum-GFRP-PA6 composite tube beams showed high performance in energy absorption and load carrying ability in comparison to the base aluminum tube. It can be explained by change in hinge mechanism and its location.
