Examining the effect of career planning on problem solving skills and lateral thinking tendencies: A study on Sport Sciences Faculty students

In this research, the problem of career change is increasing the emergence of cracking and the impact on lateral thinking. The research is organized by Muş Alparslan University, Faculty of Sports Sciences. The participants were given the demographic information formula prepared by the researchers, the 'Current Career Planning Scale for Students in Sports Sciences', whose validity and reliability study was done by Yavuz Eroğlu and Eroğlu (2020), 'Lateral Thinking Tendency Scale', whose validity and reliability study was done by Semerci (2016), and The 'Problem Solving Inventory', whose validity and reliability study was done by Heppner and Petersen (1982) and whose adaptation study was done by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993), was directed. In the analysis of the data obtained from the participants, first the skewness and kurtosis values were examined for the normality test and were determined in accordance with the recorded normal distribution. After this stage, Pearson Clash of Moments Correlation analysis is used to determine whether there is a multi-way connection problem between the variables. After testing the scales within the scope of the research with first and second level Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the predictive role of career distribution on lateral thinking and problem separation was examined using PATH analysis and recorded demographic variables (gender, age, department, family income, number of siblings, career planning education). Difference analyzes were conducted between the dependent variables (taking career courses) and taking career courses before. It has been determined that there is meaningful information between the results obtained, career changes, problem solving and lateral thinking. In addition, it is found that career planning significantly predicts lateral thinking and evaluative approach, which is one of the sub-dimensions of the problem-solving inventory, thinking, self-confident approach and planned perspective. The result is an expansion in career growth rates, with emphasis on lateral thinking differences and problem-solving rates of career distribution.
