Abstract (EN)

Science is a notion that has been tried to be explained in various ways, although there are many troubles when it comes to defining it. It will be understood better why this notion is laid stress on this much, especially, when the function of the science today is taken into consideration. We intend to make the meaning of the science as it is made of today, the practice of scientific method and the relations of it with other fields more comprehensive by studying K. Popper?s mentality of science. For that reason, we tried to put forth Popper?s mentality of science by also considering the notions about the science, present scientific understandings and frequently referred scientific methods. The power of scientific knowledge in the 20th century and its contributions to human life bring the notion of ?science? into the very center of Popper?s school of thought. Starting from this notion, Popper makes original determinations on a lot of fields like sociology, morality, religion and arts. He makes a comprehensive analysis and critique of substantial scientific approaches when generating his school of thought as a whole. Popper?s aim is to resolve the mystery of life by the help of scientific knowledge and in this way to make the world, we live in, ?better?. According to him, that will be only possible by being aware of the limits of our knowledge and by being ?humble? to the truth.
